RECORDED webinar

Hospital discharge processes: an update with the NDIA

Hear from Chris Faulkner – NDIA Branch Manager of Hospital Discharge and YPIRAC - as they update us about the hospital discharge processes.
  • Duration: 1 hr
  • Date recorded: 2 March 2023
Who is this for:
  • Hospital clinicians
  • Support coordinators assisting NDIS participants in hospital

There is confusion among hospital teams regarding hospital discharge processes for NDIS participants, particularly relating to use of templates, involvement of community occupational therapists (OTs) in hospitals, the role of hospital liaison officers (HLOs) and implementation of the hospital discharge operational plan.

Hear from the NDIA about:

  • The implementation and progress of the hospital operational plan
  • When to use NDIA templates and who should complete them
  • Escalation routes, including the role for HLOs in reviews and appeals
  • Responsibilities and approved delegations of HLOs and specialist discharge planners
  • When to use NDIS plan funding to support participants discharging from hospital (including community OTs and training support workers)
